Gold interwoven

Kindoshi (金通し) is a Japanese weaving technique that originated in the 1950s, in which fine metallic gold threads are woven into the fabric alongside the main yarns. The result is a subtle shimmer that catches the light as the textile moves, giving the surface a quiet depth and presence.

The addition of a fine gold thread introduces a different tension and texture to the weave. As the threads interact, they reflect light from slightly different directions, creating a soft sense of volume and a richness that cannot be achieved through a single yarn alone.

Rooted in Japan’s tradition of luxury textiles, Kindoshi reflects an aesthetic of restraint rather than excess.

It does not seek to glitter. Instead, the gold reveals itself through movement, texture and light, a quiet glow woven into the fabric.
